Get a peek under the hood
A recent post to a lightly trafficked Google development group is a reminder that if you want to see what's going on under the hood at the New York Times, there's a developer blog worth tuning into at http://open.nytimes.com/ (thanks to Derek Willis for the pointer).
The International Herald Tribune has one, too http://blogs.iht.com/tribtalk/technology/lab/ (just posted a nice fix to get rid of widows in type)
And if you want to find out what's about at Twitter http://dev.twitter.com/
(Thanks to Joe Mprphy for those.)
And for those using or thinking of using Drupal as a content management system, there's Planet Drupal http://drupal.org/planet
You could do worse than have someone technically inclined on your staff keep an eye on these. After all, they're tackling real problems and solving them. Why reinvent the wheel?
