More on the AP's troubles
For the record, since I didn't get to it yesterday, the New York Times adds to the stories being done on the unrest among AP members.
Let's face it, the papers want AP to do the scut work, and AP knows it can't survive if it does only that for a newspaper market increasingly unable to support the service. Is there an equilibrium? I once thought there was, but increasingly am doubtful.
I still expect the AP to become a private service and convert from newspaper ownership; it would seem the objectives of both sides are even starkly different: AP- grow. Newspapers - shrink ourselves to profitability.
