Plagiarism in Macon
Richard Prince has an interesting column on the Maynard Institute Web site about the plagiarism problems plaguing the Macon Telegraph. He writes: "Some are questioning whether journalists get enough training on proper use of the Internet, what is and isn't plagiarism, and journalistic ethics in general."
From my experience, no. Many of our students are so ill-prepared in high school to deal with the basics of language and clear thinking that we find ourselves spending too much time trying to get past that and not enough on these issues.
