Are professors' evaluations public

Not at Winthrop University, according to Will Atkinson, a student journalist who sought the results of the forms filled out every semester by students rating their professors.

Ohio State recently released its ratings (follow the link on Will's site). But Winthrop says they are personnel files.

Atkinson sought advice from the South Carolina Press Association in submitting his request. It will be interesting to see if the SCPA takes up the gauntlet on this one.
