About outsourcing

It's funny, sometimes, how we get all worked up about outsourcing, like the Pasadena site thinking about having its City Council meetings covered from India, and we miss a bigger and better story that came earlier.

At least this column by Maria Trombly about how she's working the whole outsourcing biz to produce financial coverage from China didn't get the same kind of publicity.

Read it. It's so much more informative than the kind of screechy reactions to the Pasadena story. Trombly has some really good insights about how it all works.

Doug --

Just saw your note. Thank you very much for your kind words!

Like many outsourcing companies, I'm actually finding myself doing more and more in the U.S. -- to be closer to clients, and to find more experienced people.

If anyone wants to get involved -- either editing here in the US, or reporting for us in Asia (it's a great way to break into being a foreign correspondent) -- please do so! I don't want to most my website and email address here in case the spam fillers bite, but there's always Google.

Happy journalism!
