Blow up the newsroom - Tim Porter style

I've been extremely remiss in checking in over at Tim Porter's First Draft.

I make amends by recommending his excellent post: "Explode the Newsroom: Six Ways to Rebuild the System"

I am especially intrigued by his idea of doing away with the old silos of sports, business, news, etc., and reorganizing along targeted audience lines. This parallels the idea of convergence -- one newsroom producing stories across media. If you think of those reorganized areas as little newsrooms producing a target audience across all areas, I think the analogy fits.
