Quote of the day

Today's quote of the day comes from U.S. Rep. Brad Miller, D-N.C., while addressing Fed chief Ben Bernanke at a House hearing.

Miller, noting that Bernanke is a Dillon County, S.C., boy made good, congratulated Bernanke and then pointed out that his, Miller's, relatives had crossed over into North Carolina from that county. Yep, Miller said, one of his forefathers had crossed over (I was watching CNBC and didn't get exactly which one). And come to think of it, that man's wife also was from Dillon, and by golly, she was a Miller, too (before marriage). Reflecting on that a moment, Miller remarked:

"The gene pool in Dillon County during the last century was not Olympic-sized."

You just can't make this stuff up.
