Cade White at Abilene Christian is embarking on a six-week study of how the Dallas Morning News is integrading video into its operations, including the use of frame grabs for stills in the paper. He explains it on his Digicade blog.

This should produce some interesting results that I, for one, will be happy to see. I've weighed in before here on the unfortunate situation of news sites that see video as dumping the notebook into the camera. The Morning News, however, is a big paper with big staff. We need to take what White finds and figure out how to bring it to the smaller-paper level.

White's first installment also has a neat video on DMN photojournalist David Leeson using both an HD video camera and a Canon to compare shots.
