Norm Goldstein stepping aside -- but not down

(Updated: earlier might have given the impression the answers were not searchable at all.)

Venerable AP Stylebook editor Norm Goldstein officially retires Friday, but for now he will stay involved with the stylebook.

AP will be much the lesser for Norm's retirement, as will all of us in the journalism community, but the word that he will continue handling the stylebook is good news.

His Ask the Editor answers at apstylebook.com are invaluable in clarifying some of the finer points of things not always completely addressed in the stylebook. He says plans are in works to index those answers for easier searching. The answers are searchable, too, though it's easy to miss the little link in the header text. Heck, at the rate he's going, he'll have written a second stylebook all his own with those answers.
