Multimedia isn't just for the media

If you're looking for ideas on how to do different things with today's technology, take a look at what's happening in some libraries. The Library Stuff blog has a post about Gettysburg College, where iPods are being used to let people listen to the music scores donated to the school by an alumnus.

The post also links to a New York Times article about how people are creating their own iPod museum tours (no need for those bulky, expensive and often boring museum-purchased tapes and recorders). Those doing the creating call it "hack the gallery."

News media should pay attention to how libraries are using the new technologies. Both groups have a lot in common.
