Yard sale mashup
The Bowling Green (Ky.) Daily News is using Google map mashups to produce weekly maps of yard sales.
This is a good example of how publishers have to start thinking less about mass and more about how to capture numerous new revenue streams. The Southern Newspaper Publishers Association reports that a person who agrees to buy a yard sale ad for two days, instead of one, gets to be on the map.
The paper generates a text file from its ads that has all the coding necessary to feed into Mapbuilder.net, a free map-building service.
