Champ, Stamp, etc

Barry Wood, copy desk chief and language columnist for the Rockford Register Star, has a good column this week on why it is champing, not chomping, at the bit and stamping, not stomping ground. (A great line: that’s why when cattle panic en masse, it’s a ‘‘stampede,’’ not a ‘‘stompede.’’)

And a reminder from Barry that's it's "blindman's buff" not "bluff."
